The DR Congo is two very different markets for asset tags. In the south-east, copper and cobalt mines around Lubumbashi and Kolwezi need tags that survive heavy plant and processing chemicals. In the east and in Kinshasa, humanitarian agencies, banks and telecom companies need tidy, scannable tags for vehicles, IT and office equipment.
We print anodized aluminium barcode tags and do laser marking in Nairobi, and ship to the DR Congo by air or by road through Uganda and Rwanda.
SYSCOHADA and the fixed asset register
As an OHADA member, the DR Congo uses the SYSCOHADA accounting framework, which requires a fixed asset register (registre des immobilisations) that can be reconciled to a physical inventory. Mining companies reporting to international owners also have IFRS audits. A unique code on every asset, matching the register, is what makes the annual inventory (inventaire physique) quick and verifiable. Public bodies are reviewed by the Cour des comptes.
Recommended asset tags for the DR Congo
| Asset | Recommended tag | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile plant, conveyors and crushers | laser marking on steel or thick riveted aluminium | Survives abrasion, vibration and pressure washing |
| Tools and spares in mine stores | Laser-engraved serials | Nothing to peel off; readable after years of handling |
| Humanitarian vehicles and generators in the east | tamper-proof tags | Shows if a tag has been removed |
| IT and office assets in Kinshasa | Anodized aluminium, acetone-activated | Neat, permanent tags for offices and branches |

Mine sites, equatorial rain and humidity
Copperbelt mine sites have dust, acid mist near processing plants and constant vibration. Kinshasa and the central basin are hot and wet almost all year. Goma and Bukavu are cooler but rainy. Anodized aluminium resists humidity and many chemicals, and laser marking puts the code into the metal itself. Tell us about solvents or acids your assets meet and we will pick the right option. More on why anodized aluminium lasts.

French and Swahili wording
French is the language of most Congolese asset registers, so tags usually read "Propriété de" followed by the company name, sometimes with "Code immobilisation" printed above the number. In the east, Swahili ("Mali ya") is widely understood and some agencies print both languages.

Delivery to the DR Congo
Goma and Bukavu are reached by road through Uganda or Rwanda; Kinshasa and Lubumbashi by air freight or courier. The DR Congo joined the EAC in 2022 and is still putting the customs union rules into practice, so your clearing agent should confirm current duty and documents. Frequently asked questions
Which tags work on mining plant?
Laser marking directly on steel, or thick riveted aluminium plates. Both survive abrasion, vibration and pressure washing.
Do the tags support SYSCOHADA inventory?
Yes. Each tag carries a unique code that matches your registre des immobilisations, so the physical inventory can be reconciled by scanning.
Can tags be printed in French?
Yes. 'Propriété de' and labels such as 'Code immobilisation' are printed exactly as you supply them.
How do tags reach Lubumbashi or Goma?
Lubumbashi by air freight or courier; Goma and Bukavu by road through Uganda or Rwanda.
