Zambia's Copperbelt and North-Western Province run some of Africa's largest mines, and that equipment needs identification that survives the work. We supply laser marking and thick anodized aluminium tags for plant and tools, and standard barcode tags for offices, banks and government ministries in Lusaka.
Tags are printed in Nairobi and flown to Lusaka or Ndola, ready to apply.
Registers for mines, councils and ministries
Mining companies in Zambia usually report under IFRS, so property, plant and equipment, including high-value spares, must be reconciled to physical counts. Ministries and local councils are audited by the Office of the Auditor General, whose reports often comment on asset management. A tag number matching the register turns a slow count into a scan. Read our guide to fixed asset verification.
Recommended asset tags for Zambia
| Asset | Recommended tag | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Haul trucks, drills and mobile plant | laser marking on steel plates | Readable after abrasion, mud and pressure washing |
| Rotable spares and stores items | Riveted aluminium | Stays with the part through repair and reuse |
| Ministry and council office equipment | Anodized aluminium, acetone-activated | Neat, permanent and hard to remove |
| Bank branch IT and ATMs | self-adhesive tags | Fast to apply across many branches |

Dust season and rain season
From May to October Zambia is dry, with dust and strong sun that fades printed labels; October is especially hot. The rains from November to April bring mud and humidity. Mine sites add abrasion and chemicals. Anodized aluminium and laser marking keep the code sealed in or under the surface, so none of these wear it off. More on why anodized aluminium lasts.

Wording and numbering
English is used on almost all Zambian tags. Mining companies often build the site or department into the number (for example KAN-PLT-00123), so items can be traced to a location. Send your format and we print the sequence exactly.

Delivery to Zambia
Air freight from Nairobi to Lusaka or Ndola is the usual route; courier is available for smaller orders. Zambia and Kenya are both in COMESA, and goods with a COMESA certificate of origin may qualify for preferential duty; your clearing agent confirms this. See how ordering from outside Kenya works.
Send your quantity, logo and number format by WhatsApp or email. You will get a quote and a free digital proof before anything is printed.
