View Samples Understand fixed metallic asset tags, surface compatibility, barcode layout and attachment choices for equipment identification in Kenya.

Fixed metallic asset tags are used when organisations want a durable, clearly identifiable label on equipment and other tracked property. Selection should consider the surface, operating conditions, information layout and fixing method as one specification. Explore our metallic barcode asset tags for available options.

List the asset types and surfaces before deciding on tag construction. Flat metal housings, painted panels and curved equipment may call for different dimensions or attachment plans. Check exposure to heat, water, cleaning agents, oils and abrasion, and ask the tag supplier to confirm suitability for the intended application.
A fixed metal tag can combine a visible asset number, organisation name or logo and a barcode or QR code. Prioritise the asset ID and code readability. A decorative element should not crowd the information staff need to recognise and scan. Approve a proof that shows the actual size and numbering sequence.
Adhesive bonding can be appropriate on compatible, clean surfaces. Rivets or other mechanical fixing can be considered where the substrate and asset design permit it. Direct marking may be an alternative for some items. Do not drill through equipment or compromise a warranty without the asset owner’s approval.
Record each tag number in the asset register and define how teams handle transfers, replacements and disposal. During an audit, the physical identifier should lead staff to the correct record without ambiguity. See our guides to barcode tag implementation and fixed asset tagging preparation.
Suitability depends on the surface, available space, environment and whether the asset owner permits the proposed fixing method.
A unique identifier, readable code, secure attachment and an accurate matching register record make a tag operationally useful.
